Amy graduated in 2015 with a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Oklahoma. She incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Processing Therapy in her work with clients. Amy is passionate about helping women that are struggling with depression, anxiety, and/or perinatal mood disorders. Amy completed a 16 hour training on how to best provide therapy to women who are struggling with perinatal mood disorders such as postpartum depression and anxiety and am very passionate about helping this population

Angelyce graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Art degree in Psychology. After having a family and a successful career as a Massage Therapist for 18 years, she went on to graduate with a Master of Science in Community Counseling from Oklahoma State University. She has an eclectic counseling technique, drawing from many disciplines, but strongly emphasizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She enjoys counseling adults and couples.

Anthony West completed his Bachelor’s degree from Northeastern State University and then his Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Oklahoma. Anthony was honorably discharged from the United States Army after serving his country for 6 years and enjoys working with the local and military community. He has served in multiple training deployments across the globe and 1 combat tour in Iraq.

Anthony is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 10 years of counseling experience across a variety of treatment settings include: agency practice, outpatient substance abuse and community based services. Becca has been with Improving Lives Counseling Services for over 10 years. She began her journey in administration and, with the encouragement and support of the CEO, decided to return to school. Becca earned her Bachelor of Science in Social Sciences from St. Gregory’s University and her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of the Cumberlands. During the COVID shutdown, she completed her internship at Improving Lives Counseling Services, where she discovered her passion for working with children.

Currently, Becca is working on her Registered Play Therapy certification. She specializes in child-centered play therapy but will use a variety of therapeutic approaches, including non-directive and directive play therapy, sand tray, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) depending on the client’s needs. Becca helps children with issues such as anxiety, emotional dysregulation, attachment, adoption, ADHD, self-esteem, bullying, and depression. Becca is LGBTQ+ friendly and, while she has experience with individuals of all ages, she prefers working with children 10 years old or younger due to the limited number of professionals that work with young children.

Brandi graduated from Oklahoma State University with her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 2002 and then completed her Masters of Social Work degree from the University of Oklahoma in 2004. Since that time, she has worked in an array of different clinical settings. She started her clinical training at the Child Abuse and Neglect and Child Study Center at OU Health Science Center and worked with youth in foster care in a variety of capacities with Casey Family Programs in OKC. After moving to Tulsa, she started working with Domestic Violence Intervention Services where she conducted crisis assessments, assisted with protective orders in a court setting, and conducted therapy groups with women and children victims of domestic violence as well as male perpetrators. Over the last 10 years, she has been working in a community based setting with adults, adolescents, and children with chronic mental and behavioral health issues including but not limited to those struggling with mood disorders, anxiety, depression, anger issues, PTSD, substance abuse, behavioral and impulse control disorders, and other trauma related and relationship issues. Brandi became credentialed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in 2007 and is grounded in the Cognitive Behavioral Approach to therapy, however she utilizes a variety of other clinical techniques and skills in order to address the unique and personal needs of each and every one of the people she serves. Brandi recognizes how difficult change can be and strives to create a warm and safe environment for people to explore their own personal need for change and be a supportive catalyst throughout that process.

I am a mother of two boys and 5 grandkids. I lost my one son in a car wreck in 2008. That is when I went back to school and got my degree in counseling. I worked in foster care at a foster care agency for 7 1/2 years, before I came full time to ILCS. It was definitely a very hard job but very rewarding at times. I love working with kids but also work with adults. I am also an ADSAC assessor. I love animals and have two dogs who are the biggest part of my life right now other than my husband. I reconnected with the love of my life after 36 years. We were married in June 2023, and I feel I am living my best life. I love my job and love helping people.

Carolyn is a native of Tulsa, Oklahoma. She graduated Tulsa University with a Bachelors Degree, in Elementary Education. She later earned her Masters degree at NSU in School Counseling. Currently she is a school counselor with Tulsa Public Schools, and working for Improving Lives as a Licensed Professional Counselor on a part time basis.

Her ultimate goal is to assist her clients in improving their lives as they thrive for the next level. Carolyn’s specialty is working with school-age children as they deal with the changes in their lives, such as anxiety, depression, grief, self-esteem, etc. She has a special focus, heart, and passion for those with challenges, such as Asperger’s, autism, or any other trauma our youth are facing today. Chris started his journey to become a counselor 8 years ago out of his own desire to learn about mental health. Having struggled with anxiety and depression since his teenage years, he wanted to give others the hope that he had received from his own counselors. “I want people like me to know that just because you’re struggling, that doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong. It may mean you’re just learning what parts of your life aren’t working for you, and recognizing you want to do something different!”

Exploring a variety of therapeutic approaches to mental wellness over the years, Chris finally graduated from University of the Cumberlands with a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. During his final year in the program, he completed an internship with Improving Lives, and he returned the next year to continue working with and supporting our amazing clients.

Deborah is a licensed therapist, receiving her Master in Science, Community Counseling degree from Oklahoma State University, Tulsa. She did her internship and licensure hours at LIFE Senior Services. In addition, she provides 30 years of expertise with the aging population. Derrick graduated from Walden University with a Master of Science in Professional Counseling. He has spent the last five years working with adolescents and adults, primarily focusing on behavior. Derrick has practical experience working with women who have experienced sexual abuse and trauma, as well as facilitating group counseling for psycho-social concerns. He traditionally uses a Christian-based cognitive-behavioral therapeutic approach to counseling.

James received a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Oklahoma, where he continues to teach as an adjunct professor. Prior to this, he earned a Master’s degree in School Counseling and a Doctoral degree in Education with an emphasis in School Psychology from La Sierra University. Before becoming a licensed professional counselor, he was a world traveler, private pilot, high school English teacher in Southern California, volleyball coach, and student of creative writing at Stanford University.

Jason graduated from UCLA in 2002 with a Bachelor’s in Sociology. He received his commission into the Navy. While active duty, he completed his Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University in 2014. Jason was licensed in 2017 in the state of Oklahoma as a Licensed Professional Counselor. He started with a non-profit in OKC where he did case management and individual therapy with low-income and housing challenged populations. In 2015, he transitioned to Navy Reserve Duty and moved to Fresno, CA where he worked with the VA program and Addiction programs, providing group and individual therapy for Veterans dealing with addiction and housing challenges. Jason then transferred to the Sacramento VA where he exclusively in the Outpatient Addictions Treatment program for Veterans, while maintaining his licensure in Oklahoma. He is completing his doctorate in psychology with CalSouthern University.

Currently, he is the lead therapist at a residential substance abuse treatment facility in Sacramento, CA where he provides group and individual therapy. He joined the Improving Lives Counseling team at the end of 2022 as a contract therapist. He is certified in brain spotting, motivational interviewing, and the VA Strength at Home program for perpetrators of domestic violence. He utilizes interventions from myriad modalities based on the needs of the individual.

Jennifer graduated from ORU in 1990 with a Bachelors in Music Education and graduated in 1992 with a Master of Arts in Counseling. Hello! My name is Julie Dunbar, and I’m honored you are considering me as your therapist and a part of your healing journey of growth and self-discovery. A little about me. After raising three amazing kids I went back to school to obtain my Master of Social Work from the University of Oklahoma. I always loved helping people work through their problems and decided to make it my profession. In my spare time I enjoy mountaineering, hiking, doing triathlons, playing the piano, and reading. However, my absolute favorite thing to do is spend time with my family, including my two dogs, Lucky and Z! By the way, Z is a therapy dog who comes with me to see clients. He is a gentle soul who seems to have a special knack for knowing when people need a little extra TLC.

Whether you are dealing with depression, anxiety, abuse, trauma, relationship issues, addiction, or simply feel stuck in life, I have developed tools to help individuals, couples, and families find a sense of hope and purpose and reach their goals. These tools are founded in the “strengths-based” model, are client centered, and cover a variety of therapeutic disciplines such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution Focused Therapy. I am also a trained EMDR therapist.

Leonard is a graduate of GCU with a masters of science in professional counseling and is a licensure candidate. He obtained his undergraduate degree in liberal arts with an emphasis in health care and religious studies from Excelsior College in New York. He loves to work with children and families. Helping them in the resolution of conflicts, adjustment and achievement of personal and collective goals has become an enduring passion and career focus. His skill set for this work has been developed over a span of 20 years in the career roles of clergy, licensed nurse and clinical chaplain. In such roles he has gained experience helping individuals and families facing troubles with trauma, grief, disability, theological belief systems, substance abuse, and gender adjustment. He refines this experience in his current matriculation toward the degree and role of professional counselor. Although he finds useful value in the vice and virtues of a number of theoretical orientations, choice theory and its applications have been found most intriguing and congruent with his worldview. Nonetheless, what works best for the client, patient or parishioner is what becomes the tool of choice in his work. Outside of work Leonard loves to occupy his time with horses, motorcycles, tactical sports, numismatics, antique collections, family, community volunteering and faith based activities. Morla graduated from Capella University with a MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and attained NBCC certification as a National Certified Counselor in May of 2020. Prior to becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate, she was certified as a Behavioral Health Case Manager II for over 8 years. During this time, she helped people from every walk of life connect with the resources they needed to be successful, and taught individuals and groups needed skills to reach their goals. Morla’s professional experience is in a variety of settings, including inpatient and outpatient substance abuse, Family Drug Court, Felony Drug Court, Child Welfare Deprived cases, Family Centered Services cases, and in-home intensive services for families with children.

Morla’s personal background and experience as a former foster child herself, a mother of 4, and 26 years of recovery from substance addiction provided the motivation to be self-sufficient, independent, happy and successful in the face of a system and statistics that said she didn’t have a chance in the world. Morla’s passion is helping others to do the same for themselves, regardless of their place or path in life, and she believes that everyone has the ability to succeed when they have the right tools and motivation. Natalie graduated from Northeastern State University in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in social work and obtained her master’s degree in social work in 2010 from the University of Oklahoma. Natalie has been a licensed therapist (LCSW) for 5 years and has worked in the field providing therapy services for 9 years. Natalie has worked in a variety of different settings: from a community mental health facility working with the severally mentally ill, to a medical clinic providing therapy for patients struggling with depression and anxiety. Pat graduated from Rogers State University with a Bachelor of Science in Community Counseling and from Northeastern State University with a Master of Science in Counseling with a focus on Addictions. Prior to becoming a therapist, she was a registered nurse for many years working in both medical and mental health settings. Her professional interests and experience include treating issues such as: depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction and chronic illness among other problems. She works all age groups in individual, couples and family counseling. She believes that people have the power to heal within themselves and it is her job to help them find you’re their own personal healing source. No one knows your story better than you do. Pat is also an LGBTQ+ ally and welcomes all clients.

Pat has certification in Written Exposure Treatment which is a front-line treatment for PTSD not just for the Military Veteran but for all who suffer from trauma. Pat is also certified in Mindfulness Based Relapse Prevention and often uses those techniques with her clients to help relieve anxiety and other issues.

Pat prefers a Person-Centered approach to counseling. However, she has an eclectic view and incorporates techniques from many areas of therapy to best fit the individual with whom she is working. Piper graduated with a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Louisiana State University in 2014. Shortly after graduating, she and her husband moved back to Oklahoma to be closer to family, and so her husband could continue his military career with the Oklahoma Air National Guard. Piper has always had a love for helping people, and a passion for psychology. As a result, she is able to connect with people and help them find their own path to well-being. Robyn is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She graduated from the University of Vermont with a Bachelors of Science degree in Medical Technology, which involves biochemistry for the medical field. After raising a family of 3 children in New Jersey and moving to Tulsa, Robyn continued her education and completed her Master’s of Arts degree at Oral Roberts University with an emphasis in marriage and family. She completed her internship at Domestic Violence Intervention Services, Inc and had the privilege and opportunity to work in the shelter, in the transitional living program, and outpatient services. Robyn, as a family and child therapist at DVIS for 9 years, worked to stabilize families who experienced trauma. Her passion is to help others grow individually, restore and rebuild relationships so all members can become a functional part of community. Robyn has been trained and certified in evidence-based Trauma Focused in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), Parent Child Interactive Therapy (PCIT), Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) and in Forever/For Real marriage therapy.

With all these specific, evidence based trainings, Robyn enjoys supporting and taking the journey with the client to help them gain insight into their own beliefs, thoughts, feelings, attitudes, actions and relational interactions. I offer effective, evidence-based psychotherapy in a variety of settings. I treat a number of behavioral health disorders, and provide an empathic, collaborative therapeutic approach to guide patients towards goals of treatment. I was a high school teacher for 12 years before getting my masters in counseling and making a career change. I loved teaching but I always knew counseling was want I wanted to do. I have a bachelors in Psychology and emotional disturbed special education and a masters in vocational rehabilitation with extra classes to meet the LPC requirements.
I am married and between my husband and I we have seven daughters and then we had a son. We only have 2 under 18 now. We have one granddaughter and another coming in August. Spending time with my family is my favorite thing to do. We love traveling together and going to the lake in the summer. My husband is a combat Marine Vet and we are involved in the CVMA which supports and helps combat veterans.

Susan has a Master’s of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and specializes in trauma. She obtained a Bachelor’s of Science in Ministry and Leadership from Oklahoma Wesleyan University and is a graduate of Rhema Bible College.
Susan has worked as an Assistant Chaplain for the Department of Corrections and Brookhaven Mental Hospital where she taught classes on co-dependency and abuse recovery. This experience lead her to seek out how she could help people recognize their importance and self-worth, by embracing them in their hurt, encouraging them through the challenges of change; equipping them with the tools they need to succeed in their life and empowering them to make a difference in their world. Susan is the founder and director of Beauty for Ashes Ministries and the Oklahoma Survivors Council, she speaks nationally as a life experience expert/survivor leader to educate the community, law enforcement, and service providers. She is passionate about advocating for victims/survivors of trafficking. Susan is EMDR trained and uses a multi-model approach to therapy. She believes that since everyone is hurt differently everyone heals differently, and that change and healing begin when a person knows how much someone cares.

Tevin is currently a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate in the state of Oklahoma. He has earned his Master’s of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of the Southwest. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision at Regent University. I’m the therapist you come to when you need to go deep, without being judged or criticized.

I have a Master of Divinity from Phillips Theological Seminary and a Master in Rehabilitation Counseling from Langston University. We will explore why you feel the way you feel and do the things you do? Expect tears. I welcome them. That’s part of the healing process. I really enjoy working with adults and also other therapists who just need to dump or process their own trauma. Occasionally, I work with teens but ONLY when parents agree to counseling themselves and understand I am not a fixer. We will work as a team.

I help clients navigate and work through life transitions, depression, anxiety, relationships and loss. I am most interested in treating individuals who have experienced childhood trauma. I am a Certified Brainspotting Therapist, specializing in the treatment of trauma and I LOVE my job.

Oh, one more thing. Yes, I used to be on the news. It’s interesting because it always bothered me when I had to interview people in tragic situations then have to move on to the next story.
